If you’re serious about your training, you need to be serious about your diet to. This is why the most important task of your week needs to be meal prep. the old saying “failing to prepare is preparing to fail” could not ring truer than when it comes to nutrition.

Wether your goal is to pack on muscle or shred fat, ensuring that your nutrition is on point could be what makes the difference in wether you achieve those goals or not.

Why should i do meal prep? i know i eat healthy. Well, there are many benefits to planning and prepping your meals in advance.

  • Portion Control – you may eat all the right things, but are you eating too much? or maybe you’re not eating enough. do you carry set of scales around with you all day so that you can weigh your food before you eat? i doubt it! So how do you know each meal you eat has the correct amount of protein, carbs and fats that you need? Too many carbs here, not enough protein there. Those fine details could make or break your goals. So portion control and ensuring each meal contains the right stuff is a huge benefit to planning and prepping in advance.
  • Don’t get caught short – a busy hectic lifestyle can lead to poor food choices if you haven’t done your meal prep. We’ve all had days where we’ve been rushing around and have had to grab something quick to eat, like a pre-packed sandwich or a baguette. And its on those days where good food prep really pays off. making sure you have all your meals with you wherever you go will stop you having to grab something on the go.
  • Accountability – take responsibility for your food choices by preparing your meals and having them with you wherever you go. Its good practice to write down what you eat throughout the day as well, so that when you fancy going for the biscuit tin, you know that you will have to write it down and that should stop you going for it in the first place.

So, how do you get started with meal prepping? well first of all you need a plan. you need to know what you plan to eat and when. if you haven’t got a meal plan, contact me today and i can help you design a nutrition plan tailored to your goals and dietary requirements.

Once you have your plan, you need to put aside some time to buy the indgredients, prep and cook your meals. You can do this daily, or a couple of times a week, depending on how much time yo have.

The key to good food prepping is all in the planning. having a food plan and buying only what is needed for that food plan is really important. So make sure you write a shopping list that only contains what you need. if you don’t, its so easy to slip a few extra things in the trolley that could ruin your plan for the week.

So, if your not putting aside time to prep your meals, start doing it today. Trust me, the little time it takes will pay huge returns in your result.
